BCDAWGMA is correct. My daughter started competing in agility when she was 11 years old with her Sheltie. I had to sign the entry forms.

There is no age limit for a handler to run a dog in Agility competitions. I have seen handlers as young as 5 yrs old & as old as 87 yrs old. When a Jr Handler (child under 18) sends in an Agility trial entry their parent or legal guardian must sign the agreement/release on the entry form.
There are a good number of Jr Handlers in Agility. And let me tell you, the kids ROCK! Let’s face it y’all are a lot more athletic than most of us old ladies!! Many, many Jr’s have earned Agility Championships with their dogs. There are even a few Jr’s that have gone on to become Agility judges before the age of 18. And Jr’s that have competed & won at the National Championship levels.
Start your new adopted dog with a basic Obedience class. Master the Sit, Down, Stay & Recall all with distractions, then you will be ready to start a Beginning Agility Class. Agility is an awesome way to form a deep bond with your new pet. Have Fun!!!

I think by the time you take your dog through obedience and then train it for agility, you’ll likely be old enough.
