I'm very familiar with a number of clubs in Maryland. Even though I'm in Virginia, my dog and I compete in MD trials a lot. Here's a short list:

--Frederick, Maryland, BAD (Breakaway Action Dogs). They do mostly NADAC, hold several trials a year, have very good indoor space.

--Severn, MD, PAWZAZZ. Very active in terms of trials (most of them are in Lothian/Prince Frederick) and most are NADAC. Big club that is very active.

--Knoxville, MD, Periland. Small club, no presence on the website but extremely friendly and down to earth. Some NADAC but a lot of CPE as well.

--Oriole Dog Training Club. Huge with events all over the place (Westminster and Timonium are the most common). Huge trials. USDAA, AKC and maybe even NADAC.

--Jessup, MD. Sheltie Club (can't remember the full name) but they two at least two and I think three all-breed agility trials during the year.

--Capital Dog Training Club (Beltsville, MD). I'm not wild about their classes but they do run-thru's monthly during the winter, have enclosed indoor space and at least 1 and maybe 2 AKC trials during the year.

I know that HogDog, ITZ (in the Zone) and MAD all hold trials (USDAA, NADAC and USDAA respectively) but I don't know if they're active as clubs (meaning, holding classes, training beginners). In fact, I always had the impression that HogDog was just about holding trials (and does this from Pennsylvania to Md.). I know there's an AKC club in Talbot MD.

Go to and look for trials in Maryland. All of the trial listings will be linked to a particular club site. There should be a hotlink direct to the club. If not, download the premium for the trial and get the contact info for the club there and contact 'em about classes.

I'd go to the AKC website. Look under Events, then look under Events & Awards search. I found AKC agility shows that will take place March to May in Westminster, Eden, Jessup, Harmans and Queenstown, MD. Go to the shows, talk to the competitors (if they have a dog on a leash inside the building -- DON'T ask them then -- it's probably their turn soon). They will be able to tell you which of the local schools have classes and who are the best among them.

Also - there's a great guy who has created a website called Agility Nerd......He hosts a section where you can pull up agility training schools

As you did not specify what city in Maryland -- I just researched the State and came up with these schools who also have websites.

Hog Dog Productions LLC
RaisingK9 Agility Club
CTA - Canine Training Association
Artful Dodgers Agility / Oriole Dog Training Club
Capital Dog Training Club
WOOFS! Dog Training Center
Branchwater Kennels
C Dog Run Agility
Great Falls Training Club
Hot Paws Agility at Flying Fox Farm

I looked on USDAA's website and under the events calendar and found a club hosting a trial in MD.

If you look for events close, then you can get in contact with clubs who can find an instructor near you.

Good luck!
